The goal of General Convention can be summed up in one word:
relationships. Certainly opportunities will
abound to renew and make new relationships while we are gathered in Salt Lake
City. However, I am referring to a larger role for the Church as we gather to
discern, worship, reflect, celebrate and engage in myriad ways the meaning of
our being a people in relationship with God, one another and the world. These
are the relationships that we will be addressing. The themes we will be asked to address vary
from structural to personal to international in context. However in the end we will be asked decide what,
why and how we will be in relationship with one another for Christ’s sake. Keep us in your prayers as our West Tennessee
deputation does the work we are being called to do. We will be holding you in ours in
thanksgiving for the relationship we share.
